Radiohead guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Jonny Greenwood is composing the score for an upcoming Princess Diana movie called Spencer.

Directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín and written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), Spencer stars Kristen Stewart as the late Princess of Wales with Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins and Sean Harris also part of the cast.

Yesterday (27th January), the first look of Stewart as Princess Diana was shared on social media along with the confirmation that Jonny Greenwood will be making the music.

A brief synopsis for the movie reads: “During her Christmas holidays with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, Diana decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles.”

Kristen Stewart says: “Spencer is a dive inside an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life. It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts, which starts with her given name; Spencer.

“It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her.’”

Alongside his work with Radiohead, Jonny Greenwood has created the acclaimed soundtracks for a number of movies including There Will Be Blood, Norwegian Wood, Phantom Thread and You Were Never Really Here.

Jonny has also has composed for prestigious orchestras including the London Contemporary Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
